Higher Education Diploma Supplement

The APEC Conference on Higher Education Diploma Supplement was part of the APEC project to promote use of higher education diploma supplement in the Asia-Pacific region.
The aims of this project are to:
- raise awareness of the diploma supplements (DS) as a tool for increasing the transparency and reliability of information about higher education systems in the APEC region
- share information on existing DS and those in development in APEC region economies
- identify the capacity building needs of economies in their efforts to develop and implement DS.
Conference details
The two-day conference was held on 18-19 October, 2010 in Canberra, Australia. Over 30 delegates from Australia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam attended the Conference as well as expert speakers from Europe, SEAMEO RIHED, New Zealand and Australia (including from the Australian National University).
The Conference was highly successful with delegates reporting a much improved understanding of the benefits and purposes of the diploma supplement, an improved understanding of implementation issues, and strong commitment by several delegates to further collaboration on the development of an APEC model higher education diploma supplement.
The report on the Conference and the overall project is being finalised and will be presented to APEC’s Human Resources Development Working Group for consideration.
