Franchises are currently growing at an exponential rate in the Philippines partially through the work of regional economic development initiatives. Since 1997, franchising industries have grown from a PhP 30 billion industry to almost 001, there were over 700 franchises, up from only 50 franchises in the early 1990s. The Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) and its members have had many successes and challenges. The PFA has developed and implemented a number of innovative initiatives including staging large franchise conferences and expos, and developing Fair Franchising Standards.
