English as a Foreign Language

CONNECTING NETWORKS

The Audio Book Project was created by "English Anyway" Network as a support for elementary English teachers from rural and town areas in Colchagua Province, because most of these teachers work in those places without the approved knowledge in the English language.

The Audio Book is formed by a book and a CD with contents related to numbers, colors, fruits, vegetables, some grammar games, modal verbs and songs for oral reproduction in 5th and 6th grades.

At the beginning of the project we considered a practical workshop for teachers to develop their listening and speaking abilities.

This year each teacher received this audio book for working in his/her school with the photocopyable handouts.  The same material was given to other networks of Colchagua; one of them is the "Rural English Leaders".  We both work and share all the activities as a professional support between the networks.

This transfer as a connection and professional tradeoff with the members of the networks, also the teachers can take advantage of the resources given by English Opens Doors Program from the Chilean Ministry of Education.

The Audio Book is very useful for developing in our students the needed skills, according to the ministry program and in a funny way for them.  Using this material, students can play, listen, draw, color, repeat, write, and answer in oral and written ways some of the activities.

We can say, using it is a great way to overcome significant learning from our elementary students.

Also, this audio book was given this year to Miss Alissa Blair during the First National Coordinators Meeting in Santiago.
