Educational Experience of the Aconcagua Network of English Teachers 2009

The network of English teachers has gradually developed since its creation as one of the many projects to improve the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language in the school in the San Felipe and los Andes Provinces in the fifth region of Chile.

The development of these projects dates from the creation of the Network of English teachers in the year 2002, and since then together with the help of the English Opens Doors Program initiatives and projects have been developed such as: My Birthday Party (2005), The Chubby’s Loyola’s Route (2006), The More I Listen, The Better I Learn (2006-2007), English Week Festival (2008).

The year, continuing with these development projects, the Aconcagua Network organized autonomously the Song Festival “Spring Festival 2009” with its own resources and with the collaboration of several people, companies, and teachers from the schools where the Network operates.

This experience, which would want to share with Teacher Networks, was possible thanks to the collaboration of the teachers in the network, as was obtaining resources and work for the development of the experience. Together with is the important work that the teachers carry out in their classrooms with diverse student groups and including different working environments during the school day.

This experience fulfills the objectives traced in the creation of the Network of English teachers and the sharing of educative experiences, developing teaching improvement projects and reflection about pedagogical practices; all this with the end to improve and incentivize the learning of our students by motivating them and encouraging them in the adventure which is learning a foreign language.

The development of this festival was characterized by the interpretation of English songs by the students. We hope that the sample of this experience encourages other professionals to develop professional working groups, contributing to the procurement of a better vision of the future in Education and collaboration based on innovation.
